“Moxie Gardiner” was born in Buffalo, NY and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Buffalo State University. After graduation, she moved to the nation’s capital to pursue a career in journalism, traveled frequently on assignment, and published numerous magazine articles.
She left her journalism career behind to become a speechwriter, and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Public Administration from American University. For the next nearly 30 years, she worked at a number of different federal agencies. In addition to two tours on Capitol Hill and a three-year assignment in Brussels, Belgium, she was selected for a year-long fellowship at RAND, a Washington area “think-tank.”
In December 2014, she reinvented herself once again as “Moxie Gardiner” (her pen name), an author, writer, blogger, and speaker. In 2016, she was selected as one of 10 aspiring novelists to participate in the Novel Year program at The Writer’s Center in Bethesda, MD. She published her first novel—Virgin Snow—in 2023. The second book in the Buffalo Trilogy is slated to be published in 2026.
